DAY 10 - CLARE VALLEY - LEASINGHAM CARAVAN PARK
This morning we drove to a town called Burra about a 40 minute drive from Leasingham. Burra is a town that has changed little since the days it was a copper mining town. The town is a treasure trove of historical buildings built out of the local stone and the history is very interesting. When calling into the Information centre you can purchase what is the called the Heritage passport. It will cost you $25 and you get a key to eight locked historic sites and a guide booklet detailing both an 11km touring route and histories of 50 other buildings. We spent a bit of time in Burra exploring the buildings and taking some photos. We headed back to Leasingham to grab our bikes and try out the Reisling Trail that runs just behind our caravan park. It is one of two trails in the area the other being the Rattler trail. When you ride along these trails there are many wineries that you can stop in along the way and picnic tables and parks in which you can picnic as well as glorious views all around the Clare Valley. The Reisling trail runs for 35kms from Auburn to Clare. We decided to do the 8kms down to Auburn and back which gave us a good taste of the trail. The Rattler trail is the newer trail and runs for 19kms from Riverton to Auburn.
