CURTAIN SPRINGS FREE CAMP TO AYERS ROCK CAMPGROUND -19TH MAY 2014
Left Curtain Springs free campground stopping at Erldunda Roadhouse to have lunch. After leaving the roadhouse we drove on the Lasseter Highway stopping at Mt Ebenezer for fuel. We had heard on the bush telegraph that the fuel here was a good price for this area anyway ($2 Litre for diesel) and an icecream. There is also an aboriginal art gallery there which stocks some reasonably priced artworks compared to Yulara prices. Arrived at Ayers Rock campground early afternoon and set up. The campground is very well laid out. Campsites are roomy, amenities clean with hot showers. Everything you can want is a short distance away. We are spoilt here and we also have contact with the outside world again to get in touch with family and friends. This afternoon rode our bikes to the town square which houses a supermarket, post office, ANZ bank and souvenir shops. They also have free activities on every day here. We saw a performance by the Wakagetti Cultural dancers. They were entertaining and interacted with the audience as well. As a guest at the campground you can also swim in any pool at the resorts located here. We got a deal for the campsite 4 nights at the price of 3 which we thought wasn't too bad. As it is our wedding anniversary on the 25th we decided to lash out and do the 'Sounds of Silence' dinner which we had always wanted to do so booked for Wednesday night.
